Fundraising Collaborations
Trans qathet was formed in May 2021 through funding from TransCareBC and Lift Community Services. We work to create visibility and safety for trans and gender diverse individuals in the qathet regional district.

Laurance (he/him) is a settler living on Texada Island where he has been working on growing a garden and a community. He is also an artist and gentle activist who is honoured to be collaboratively building the Trans qathet program with Zeke, Jess, and Annabelle. Laurance graduated from Emily Carr University in New Media and Sound Arts, and currently works and volunteers at a number of jobs and organizations, including the qathet Art Centre, the Van Anda Fire Department, TACT, and ongoing collaborations with both local and Vancouver artists.

Jess (they/them) is a parent to two little kids and enjoys gardening, cooking, and swimming in the ocean. They recently graduated with an MA in Gender Studies and is thrilled to be involved with creating the Trans qathet program. They hope to use their education and lived experience to make a meaningful impact in the community and on social media, they are especially looking forward to bringing together gender diverse and trans parents.
Zeke Chambers
Peer Support and Graphic Design
Zeke (they/them, he/him) has lived in the qathet region since 2004, they enjoy living rurally and raising livestock in the Kelly Creek area. When Zeke came out as trans in 2015 he was shocked by the lack of resources and understanding in qathet. He is super excited to be working with the Tq Team to help make the qathet region a more welcoming place for gender variant folks. Zeke is passionate about supporting people in their time of need, and hopeful to make a lasting and meaningful impact in our community.
