Helping Out Fund - apply by the 15th of each month

Our peer support team recognizes the barriers and marginalization trans and gender diverse people often face, and the profound impact it can have on one’s life, particularly for those who may be enduring poverty, lack of social support, illness, or other hardships. Everyone deserves to have their needs met, we are here to support our trans community members in need with our Helping Out Fund. You can fill out our Application Form to apply for funds, at www.transqathet.ca/helping-out. The deadline to apply is by the 15th of each month, and if filling out the form is challenging, we can assist you in receiving the funds you need in other ways. Email zeke@transqathet.ca with any issues or questions about the funds!

We’ve also added a “donate” button to our website to contribute to the Helping Out Fund to aid those in our community - Note: as we are not a registered charity, your donation is not eligible for a tax receipt.

Gender Bender Fashion Show!

Sunday August 15, qathet ART centre (Library building 2nd floor)

Opens at noon for participants

The Gender Bender Fashion Show closes off Pride Week in the qathet Region. The goal of this event is to allow queer fashionistas, designers, makeup artists, hair artists and visionaries the space to showcase their looks in front of family and friends. This runway is a space to express and dress up in any gender expression that feels authentic to you and actualizes any curiosity. Folx can dress up in any gender, and we encourage people to explore other gender presentations. By making it safe for everyone to play with their gender presentation, whether they identify with it or not, it takes pressure off of those who are doing it to learn about their own gender journey. This show is about making the people walking feel like a million bucks. While walking, music of their choice and a description of their look will be announced per their write up. Runway time will depend on the number of participants, but we expect late afternoon of Sunday August 14 at the Art Centre. Space will be available to get ready starting from noon. We will be taking necessary steps to make this event as psychologically and physically safe as possible to allow people to fully express themselves without threat including a strict photo policy and safety persons at each changing area. Email racheld@prcat.ca with any questions, comments or concerns.
